|
|
Hi,
I don't know if you have read my blog today, but, I have the following post:
Jenni wrote about this weird thing going on with blogs. These scumbags have nothing better to do than to pull from weblogs and store information on their server. This includes images, posts, comments, etc. And it updates when your blog updates. The IP address to block is 210.224.177 and the easiest way to block them is via your .htaccess file. I blocked them this morning, whew. If you don't know how to do this, you can visit this link and I will teach you. Thanks to Robyn and Geek Grrl my blog is safe, at least for now!
It turns out that I had to put the .htaccess file on every domain, main and blog that we own as these jerk-o's are pulling everything from the 'net looks like.
If you need help with this, please visit the links in the post. After you block them, you should check to make sure there is an error at your blog/domain. Just go to the link for their site and type in your domain, there should be an error page.

Have you guys tried to translate your blog in different languages using AltaVista?
It's a similiar concept. I don't think they're storing anything. _________________ Michael P. |

I stand corrected. They ARE storing the contents. _________________ Michael P. |

That's not a complete IP address. |

Epo,
That's okay. In fact, that's even better, because that IP address represents the whole subnet. You see, IP address is made of "network.subnet.clients". The first six digits are for the network, the next three are for the subnet, and the last three are for individual clients or PCs (computers). _________________ Michael P. |

They obey the robots.txt exclusion standard. There are a number of different projects that attempt to archive everything on the net, including http://archive.org/ |

And that's not always true.

Well, the new version is not widely used yet. Right? _________________ Michael P. |

The new version of what? Do you mean IPv6? Whether or not it is in widespread use is not revelant. In both IPv4 and IPv6 the the netmask is of variable size. |

You are welcome! I didn't put in the entire IP to block as I blocked that address, I don't have any readers from Japan anyhow.
