Think of it as a branch/fork, like Phoenix to b2's Mozilla; same base, different goals. That's not really a good example for a couple of reasons, but the best I could come up with at this hour. Some short term goals are improving semantics, usability, and matching some of the features users of other blogging tools such as MT and Textpattern have been enjoying for a while now.

I have a lot more code to check-in to the CVS but until Friday I'm quite busy. The website should be up after the weekend, and I'll try to make a more official announcement once some more things are in place. Kudos for being so attentive :D . If you have any questions feel free to ask them here.
