Download WordPress

It has a couple of nice new features, a new interface, and new default templates. We're already working on the next version which is going to be even better. Cheers!

WordPress incorporates all the bugfixes and such of b2 up through 0.6.2 . Basically we're cleaning up the code, adjusting the interface, and adding features. There is also going to be a strong emphasis on documentation. I think you should use it, but then again I'm biased. ;)

Many hacks will work, but I can't guarentee they will. Some things have changed, some things have stayed the same. Contact the hack developer and ask them if it's compatible, and if it's not, why not.

Now that you're the official b2, any chance you'll be using some of the b2 styling for the admin side?

I like the new feature ideas, but the admin page style is a big step backward.

I agree. It's really really ugly.

I have to agree, the Admin panel is, not necessarily ugly, but it's not appeasing to the eye, BUT the beauty of it and alot of things, is the ability to change it. Don't complain folks, just change the admin panel's CSS and voila.

WordPress can't please everyone.

Hi!
I changed from b2 to wp some time ago, and it was really easy.
You just upload some files and run a "convertor", which will take care of your posts and config file and the necessary database changes. So, it's quite easy and risk free. (Though you should back up your db and your b2 installation before.)

wp has a lot new features, too.
Some are quite usefull, I guess, but there are some I don't see the need of.
(E.g. an "excerpt" field above your post field where you can write a summary for your RSS feed - I don't use it...)
Plus the admin interface layout looks like an FT issue.
If you're using your blog for your business or something, then it's OK, but if you're using it as a virtual diary and if you know little about CSS, I'd recommend you stick with b2 since its layout looks more like sparetime activity.
(The b2 css file is unfortunatly not compatible with b2, so you won't be able to use it... )

I was trying to AVOID switching to WP for a while - to see if Michel was going to write something up different [ as I thought he was going to be sticking with b2 himself ] but after talking to one of the WP guys, yea, he said he's switched to WP! Ahh!

So. I don't know what is going on - but I ask the question... is it IMPOSSIBLE to get a .6.2.2 copy out there? More importantly - did it come with the LJ patches and such?

If this is covered else where in the forum I appologize, I'm still in the process of searching out my answers currently as well. Thanks for any info.
