google is great, however, it's not always best
searching for an answer in a resource specific reference area (such as the b2 boards) will most always return a more specific/detailed answer.
maybe i'm a newb, but those sites, while informative we not easily helpful. theres no simple 'what does it do?' section
it's geared more towards developers
after some reading i kind of got the gist of it (i had the same question as SirVinh, go figure). but i don't think it's very clear to me |

Within the first sections of each document there is a precise statement of what each does.
Trackback:
This document describes TrackBack, a framework for peer-to-peer communication and notifications between web sites. The central idea behind TrackBack is the idea of a TrackBack ping, a request saying, essentially, ``resource A is related/linked to resource B.'' A TrackBack ``resource'' is represented by a TrackBack Ping URL, which is just a standard URI.

The trackback url is not to call up in your browser. You paste it in the 'trackback a URL' field on the page where you make a post. _________________ ~^Rickie Beth^~

And there is even less of an excuse for being rude.
I googled it and was overwhelmed by the detail and couldn't get an overview of it easily. I'm glad someone asked, even though the response was hostile, it had some information in it. Thanks for the information. |
