For AIM screen names, a space will cut off the string. For example, if a user enters "Billy Bob" for their AIM screen name, the link to IM them (in their profile) will only be Billy, with Bob just as plaintext. How do I fix this?

try Billy%20Bob. I am not sure it'll work, but it's worth a shot!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not even going to try it, because even if that does work, I shouldn't have to do that Smile.

Otherwise known as "I'm not a developer and I am getting this software for free but I won't use hacks and want other people to do free work for me"?

What are you talking about? I spent hours completely revamping the b2 code. I simply see no need to hassle myself with a fix that, even if it does work, is not really a fix. Do I want my users to have to type %20 for every space? I think not. So why try? Your idea isn't a hack--it's a makeshift alternative that I don't think will serve my needs.

Why interpret other people's thoughts when you suck at it? Go back to wonderland.

It just seemed strange to me that you'd refuse to even try something, considering that the reason I may be asking you is because I could be planning a fix. Obviously, if the %20 fix worked, it'd be a simple matter of regexp'ing the string in the backend. However, you weren't (arent'?) seemingly willing to do the little bit of work (trying that out) that I mentioned.

Ah, I didn't see that you were planning a fix. Now what you said makes perfect sense, and I'll try it right now.

[Trying it]

Well, with %20, when the person's profile is viewed, it shows the %20...but then, the link to IM them works. In other words, if the person's sn is Billy Bob, the text will say Billy%20Bob, but the link will say "aim:goim?screenname=Billy Bob&message=Hello." Oh, by the way, when the link is copied (Copy Shortcut), the %20 re-appears, but I think that's alright. In other words, when I pasted it into here, it actually showed as "aim:goim?screenname=Billy%20Billy&message=Hello"--that must have something to do with the %20 being parsed (wrong word, but ya...).

Whoops, it should work now. I've always been a fan of short signatures, but I guess that one was a little too short. ;)

You know instead of doing %20 or whatever, you could just use a + for a space with AIM screenames. It always works for me. Example: Billy+Bob
