Yes, good job indeed...
However, it seems that the skinning feature is too integrated into the core of the program that it makes the whole thing seem too bloated. Because of the skinning feature, it would be extremely difficult to customize, in my opinion.
It took me several minutes to figure out how the template system works, and which file to edit.
Although I like many features that b2evolution offers, I won't be upgrading for a while or until I become more efficient with php. _________________ Michael P. |

Hi Michael,
I recognize that switching to skins can be disturbing.
Thus, if you want, there is a page in the included manual that explains how to quickly adapt your current blog template without using skins at all. (you can always use them later if you want).
Maybe I should turn that on by default... ?
Actually, by following the included instructions carefullly, you can do a whole upgrade from b2 to b2evo, including database AND template, in no more than 15 minutes! _________________ -François

Yeah, I think it should be a default since not too many people use skins anyway.
Which file explains that feature?
By the way, what would happen if I change the directory after the installation to maybe "localhost/journal/"? I noticed that the database contains the blog filename in several fields. Do I have to change them manually?
I don't want to override my current b2 directory, that's why.
Oh, and would it be possible to run my blog main template from the "blog" directory and not the skin directory? I don't like how it is right now.
I believe the skins can be simplified by using only if-else statements, includes, and a cookie by the way. _________________ Michael P. |

The file that explains the feature is doc/evoskins.html. I'm not sure about the other stuff, so I'm going to keep my mouth shut. Wouldn't want to give the wrong answer!
I actually like the skinning feature, and I thought it was pretty easy to figure out. |

Thanks for the info, Sabrina.
Yes, the skinning feature isn't that difficult to figure out, but the thing is that I need to be able to customize it; i.e., hide the header and the sidebar if it certain variable is defined. You would know what I mean if you look at my site. _________________ Michael P. |

Yes, I can see that.
However, in my case, it would take days for me to transfer my modifications over to b2evolution. I'm too lazy and impatient. Oh, well.
Thanks anyway. _________________ Michael P. |

Michael,
Yes you can run templates from the blog directory, yes you can move your blog templates by changing their URL and/or filename in the backoffice under 'blogs'.
Moreover it seems that the answers to your questions are already all on the main b2evolution/index.html page in the distribution. Even, the page Sabrina rightfully pointed you at is linked from this page.
Your current concerns have actually been addressed during beta stage, so it's really up to you to take a few minutes to read the manual now _________________ -François

Michael,
I use b2evo for myself and I won't stop for quite some time. I have a to-do list of 80 items and I consider at least half of them as essential.
Moreover, doing this is fun and I got great positive response from all other the world. How could I stop working on it??
Now, regarding what's coming next... some people like to talk a lot about what they will eventually maybe do someday... I like to only talk about what's available, at least as beta material...
