There's a new beta out at the b2evo group. I've just installed it and upgraded from my b2 0.62 with only two errors, and these have both now been fixed. The skinning feature is really rather nice, you should try it... _________________ tin-men

The b2evolution doesn't touch the b2 tables in your database, so nothing will get screwed up. If you don't like it, just delete the tables and carry on with b2. The skining feature is too deeply intergrated with the re-written b2evolution core to be able to be used with b2 I think. _________________ tin-men

I confirm that: there is absolutely no risk in trying an upgrade from b2 to b2evolution.
Just install b2evolution in another folder and follow the upgrade instructions.
You'll end up with two blogs and two separate database table sets.
After that you can just delete wathever of your two installations you don't want to keep, b2 or b2evo. The other one will continue working as before. _________________ -François

Yes all the info from your b2 will be there, in both table sets.
What you do is that you just upload b2evolution into a new folder on your website and then you let b2evolution duplicate the database tables for you.
At the end you deleted whatever you don't want to keep.
If you unzip your b2evolution, you'll find a welcome index.html file that explains all this with a little more details.
Feel safe to experiment, it won't break your existing b2 blog until you explicitely delete it by hand! _________________ -François

Why would you want to do this? I keep my site and livejournal seperate... That's the point of having two journals, yes? _________________ tin-men
