OK, here's the situation...
I started with Blogger, loved it, discovered how limiting it is, then moved on to b2. Now I'm seeing posts saying that b2 is no longer being maintained. Is this true?
The download files have a very recent date on them (October 2003), suggesting somebody is maintaining them in some way-shape-or-form.
I'm very very impressed with the quality of b2. It took me just a couple of hours to massage it to fit in with the rest of my website, and it's bloody quick. There are a few bugs, definitely, and a few UI changes I'd suggest, but overall it's a nice product. Nice enough that it would be one of the apps I'd cheerfully fork out a few bucks for once in a while (once I figure out if it's going to stick around).
I guess what I'm looking for is either feedback from Michael V, or somebody to point me to a previous answer from him.
Thanks... _________________ --

b2 is dead and has been dead for quite some time. That new download was just a security fix.
Michael fell off the face of the Earth for a while, so some people made b2evo (see sig). Michael came back though for a bit I hear and continued work on it for a while.
It then died again and Michael named WordPress (see sig) the official continuation of b2.
If you want it in his own words, feel free to search the forums.
WordPress vs b2evo
WordPress is more similar to b2. b2evo has lots more features like multiple blogs and stuff.
I use WordPress (upgraded from b2 for security features and stuff) instead of b2evo 'cause I don't need all of b2evo's features. _________________ http://www.viper007bond.com
If you haven't already installed b2, I advise you look into WordPress or b2evo instead as b2 is dead. |

I'm happy to email it to anyone who wants a copy. Someone may wish to host it under the GPL license it comes with |

b2 is no longer being updated. Sorry. WordPress is the official continuation, and has been very successful. If you don't like WP contribute code to make it better or just don't use it. But please upgrade to something, because b2 is no longer being maintained and by running a script that hasn't been significantly updated in well over a year and a half, has no protection against comment spam, and is not coded with security in mind you put your site and everyone else on your host in danger. _________________ Matthew Mullenweg
