|
|
I've just set up a second b2 site on my server, and I didn't want to have to set up the userlist again (since it was going to be the same as the first b2 site)
Anyway, I changed all the tables in "b2config.php" except the $tableusers, ran the installer, and viola - everything worked like a charm - it did give me an error about "unable to create table 'b2users'" but that's to be expected...everything works just as I'd wanted it to - if I change my profile on one blog, it's changed on both (obviously, since it's sharing the same data...)
Thought I'd mention it here, in case anyone wants to do that and got scared off by the error message on the install. |

Your web host doesn't allow you to have multi mySQL databases? Mine does and by running more than B2 weblogs I simply set up separate and individual mySQL databases. eg: b2user1, b2user2, b2user3, etc. without having to resort to what you just did. That's why I love my current web host so far for having this option without extra charge.
If I'm mistaken in any way about what you're trying to do, then my apologies. |

most do allow more sql databases but what he is saying is you can sue one isntead of two.
most hosts limit how many you can have, also this makes making changes a lot easier. |

Plus, I think what he is trying to do is have the same userlist for all his b2 weblogs. If you use multiple databases, then you can't share the same list (and have the same profiles across all weblogs).
BTW, my name is rakhesh. Been using b2 for 2-3 months. Liking it more by the day; so thought I should join the forum and help and get helped. As a starter question (kind of in line with the current topic), is there a way by which I have two or three b2 weblogs on the same page? (Not that I have a direct need for such a feature; while checking an alternate blogging system -- nucleus -- I saw that it supports such a feature.)
Thanks,
Rakhesh |

hey rakhesh, im a little new too but i would assume that you could use an iframe, divs, or tables to put more than one blog on the same page. |

Do I need to put b2 in another folder on my server, or can I just rename b2config.php and change any references to it? |

Oh, I want to set up the same config as the guy who started the thread...
I want two b2's running, using the same mySQL database, but in different parts of the site. |

Should work. Just have two copies of the b2 files in the different locations all configured for the two different locations, but just have them point to the same database. _________________ http://www.viper007bond.com
If you haven't already installed b2, I advise you look into WordPress or b2evo instead as b2 is dead. |
