Alright, I posted this because I am curious if other people feel way, and experience things like I do...
Anyway, when I start to make a website, the hardest, most painstaking thing for me is not making the graphics, tweaking the b2, getting html right, uploading the pages or any of that stuff..
Its thinking of a lay out and sticking with one.
I spends hours , days , months even, trying to think of a acceptable theme/layout. Sometimes I get very close, make the whole page almost then scrap it at the last minute because I think it all sucks.
Does anyone else have this problem? _________________ "so fresh so clean" |

Yes, especially if you're anal and actually like to be proud of your work. I design and build in a startup for clients and always think it's so much easier to design for them than it is for me. It took me months to come up with my current personal page layout. I just made sure I built it so I can do components to it
My portfolio has been in the back of my mind for so long (years) and now that I have to look for more work, I have to get my a$$ in gear. Even then, I know did one in PHP/MySQL so that I can put all text, tools, image names, into a database and map/grab it if I decide at any point that "this layout sucks). In includes like everything I've done since 1996.. anything.. the only problem is writing about it all!!
Anyway, I'm babbling. I totally am in your boat. Paddle on. |

Oh yeah hehe, I can't stick to a layout for more than a couple of weeks cause I get bored with it so quickly -- thats why I thought I should learn to skin my site -- that way I could have many imperfect layouts instead of one nearly perfect one |

The longest Ive stuck with a layout is 2 weeks..
The least 3 days.. But that was also because that layout was a panic layout and a very simple one.....
I dont really think of what I should do... I just play around with some different things and try to see what it looks like...
The latest Ive done features only a brush....
Ive been complimented on it, but it only took me like 5 min to make it..
From I got the idea that is....

I don't even bother to make graphics for my site. I am too untalented and too anal about it. It's the engineer in me that desires pefection. _________________ http://www.viper007bond.com
If you haven't already installed b2, I advise you look into WordPress or b2evo instead as b2 is dead. |

I feel the exact same way. Whenever I think of a good idea, it never comes out the way I want...so I always have to start over. 1 month later...I have a new layout. It sucks |

hehehe I am a self titled layout whore, I think the longest I have ever had a layout up is 2 months (the shortest is 2 days LMAO). Generally I will see something in my internet travels and think wow that would make a great layout. but with my blog I have been using things that I see in the "real world" seeing as that is what my blog is about. My current layout is a picture I took of the big Jacaranda tree in our backyard which I added a few filters to and yeah I have a layout. And I am working on one at the moment which includes a picture of the view from our local beach, The only think I find with using photos is that they tend to take a bit more work, with my other site I always make the graphics so I know exactly what I want, but with a photo I sit there for hours trying to work out what to do with it, lol...(whoa that was long hehehe) |
