The forgotten your password feature on my board has stopped working. (It was before!)

I am now getting the following error message when type in email add then click "ok"

The email could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function...

Any ideas on how I disabled it? More importantly, how do I enable it again?

It's an issue with your host, not b2. So ask your host if they can turn it on for you.
