Hi. I've been posting about annotations in my weblog a lot recently. The feature I'm thinking of is this:
I have an rss feed of my weblog. So people can merge my stream of postings with other RSS feeds, apply filters if so desired, and come up with a tailored news source. Why not the same thing for annotations?
If my weblog software implemented the query and download interactions from the annotea protocol (see http://www.w3.org/2001/Annotea/User/Protocol.html), you could put me into your annotation client's list of annotation servers. then you'd see weblog entries as annotations whenever you visited a URL I had written about in my weblog.
I would love to be able to see weblog entries from my personalized list of weblogs as I surf the URLs they apply to.
That entry was here: http://ncyoung.com/permaLink/102 (no need to go there now, I posted it above)
I describe annotations and give background here: [url]http://ncyoung.com/permaLink/97[\url]
And I go off on annotea here: http://ncyoung.com/permaLink/100 |

Hi.
I got so excited about this idea tha I went ahead and threw a very minimal implementation together. The best way to view annotations is with amaya. Mozilla also has a functioning annotea client.
Check here for links to clients:

And here for info about my server. Drop me a line with questions!
