Hmm, is b2 currently still being developed rather than bug fixes in the cvs? _________________

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. I'm wondering when b2 .7 will be out. There's several bugs that need to be fixed, aren't there? Not to be critical, every program has bugs! I really love b2 by the way! |

That would be even better, as it would mean there were most likely significant features added. |

Hi all,
I can not shed any light on this either. But to make sure we do not confuse people who the creator of b2 is, we need to make sure we refer to him correctly. That being michel v. With the number of michael's, mike's here on the forums, some may become confused who is who.
Best regards,
michael e |

I believe michel mentioned that 1.0 would be a rewrite - I asked him a while ago if he planned to use make the code more object oriented and I think he said that was in the plans for 1.0.
I have no idea if this is still the case as it was several months ago, but if he is doing this, it is (1) fantastic! and (2) a very big job! Having posts, comments, authors, etc. in objects should make hacking much easier and cleaner.
I think he's right to do it at this time and I hope that is what he's doing; but whenever you are refactoring code, new features get back-burnered.
Either that or maybe he got busy with a paying gig _________________ Yahoo! Messenger ID: alex_t_king |

I don't think a complete rewrite is a good idea. A refactoring approach may prove faster and better. Much of the code is very good, but as a whole the system is inflexible and doesn't handle errors gracefully. Db abstraction would be great as it would then appeal to more people that may wish to use it with other dbs.
All of this can be easily fixed without making everyone sit around and wait for a complete rewrite. Perhaps I should email MV and say that.
On another note, does anyone know what the license is for b2? LGPL perhaps?
Cheers,

There is a license.txt file in your b2 dir.
It seems to be GNU but I don't have the time right now to read throught it all. |

I think b2 0.6.1 with the refresh fix (what I am using) appears very stable and works well.
When are there errors?
I would like to possibly help with the development of b2... does macshack have a site ? _________________ my blog |
