|
|
If I set the $use_weblogsping value in my b2config.php file to 1, I get a 30-60 second delay when I hit the "Blog this !" button for a submission via the webpage.
It is quite bizzare. I have all Blo.gs pinging turned on, and that does not cause a delay. But as soon as I turn on the weblogs.com ping, that delay happens.
Normally it is not a problem. I am happy to sit and wait for it to complete the submission. But, when I use my blogger application (http://www.webentourage.com/blogapp.php BlogApp written by Tim Conner) it causes the app to time out (and give an error) when submitting. (It should be noted that the submission does actually happen, even though the error occurs.)
Anyway, does anyone have any idea why this delay happens? Any idea how to fix it?

Well then it's a problem with Weblogs.com. The functions to ping Blo.gs and Weblogs.com are exactly the same, except for the URL that they ping to: if enabling weblogs.com ping slows your b2 down, and enabling blo.gs doesn't, that's a lag problem with weblogs.com.
It could also be a lag problem between weblogs.com and your webhost (I've seen such strange terrible lags happen between two arbitrary hosts, for reasons I could not infer). |

Nope. I just enabled weblogs.com ping, hit submit, and while it was submitting I did this ping.
Quote: | [root@sambava root]# ping -c 5 weblogs.com
PING weblogs.com (64.14.1.92) from 202.83.83.2 : 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 64.14.1.92: icmp_seq=0 ttl=114 time=169.761 msec
64 bytes from 64.14.1.92: icmp_seq=1 ttl=114 time=169.567 msec
64 bytes from 64.14.1.92: icmp_seq=2 ttl=114 time=170.299 msec
64 bytes from 64.14.1.92: icmp_seq=3 ttl=114 time=169.867 msec
64 bytes from 64.14.1.92: icmp_seq=4 ttl=114 time=168.875 msec
--- weblogs.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/mdev = 168.875/169.673/170.299/0.698 ms |
Must be a problem with their site.
Does anyone out there NOT have a problem with delays in b2 pinging weblogs.com?
