Just down loaded and installed B2 just fine and seen a error in my log files and it turns out the link on the main page for the XML button links to b2rss.xml and I don't have that in my folder that I downloaded .
Now I found a b2rss.php and b2rss2.php but no b2rss.xml ?
I change the link to the b2rss.php (hope that is right ?) but not sure if a rss.php file will work ? kind of new to the rss feeds and how they work .
So did I miss something ?
Thank you for any help .

Hi,

No you didn't miss anything. In fact you pointed out a small error.

In the "old" days, b2 generated a file called b2rss.xml. The idea was to have this "static" file updated when ever there were new posts made. There were several problems with this approach however. So Michel V (creator of b2) change his approach.

In the current release, the supplied files, b2rss.php and b2rss2.php, generate a XML response dynamically. b2rss generates a v0.92 rss format and b2rss2.php generates a v 2.0 rss format.

Thank you for highlighting this oversight

Hi,

Yes you were correct. But to be clear, either file, b2rss.php or b2rss2.php would be correct file. It's just which rss standard you what to publish; v0.92 or v2.0.

I had the same question. Thank you very much for documenting the answer here. I figured I'd do a search before I start asking questions, and it paid off.

Anybody know where I can get XML linking images (like the default orange one), except these should say "XML 0.92" and "XML 2.0"??? If not, I'll make my own...

Thanks in advance! Smile

Wow... I've been wondering about this. This bug should definitely be fixed in the template of the next release or something...

And about the different buttons... I'm interested too... they probably exist somewhere, or I could make my own awesome-looking ones...

How does one use an XML feed? If I were using one from another site, do I need to get a parser, etc...
