Good everyone. I am the owner of a hosting company that looks at offering the latest software and scripts to our current clients. I have been watching the blogging industry for sometime and have found an interest in your script.
Id like some feed back from people who use it on a few issues I am concerned about. We may be offering a great deal for future clients who are interested in running a blog for a extremely low price but first like to get some feed back.
Please inform me on the following issues:
1. I assume b2 requires only one Mysql database, but for those who run a large site, what is your current database size?
2. Is FTP required to update and use your blog (post comments etc. etc.)
3. For those who have access to server stats, what CPU % and sql % does a blog use. (Does it cause a high resource hog?)
4. What would you , the user, suggest a client have included in a package for a blog? (1 sql database, FTP, web control panel).
Many may say, Install it and see, but please understand my time is limited and It's always good to get the end user feedback on such scripts.
I want to thank everyone in advance for taking the time to reply.
Regards,
Chris Henry |

Quote: | 1. I assume b2 requires only one Mysql database, but for those who run a large site, what is your current database size? | With one year of posting everyday (give/take), my old db size was almost 900KB.
Quote: | 2. Is FTP required to update and use your blog (post comments etc. etc.) | FTP isn't required after the initial installation/upload, users can edit the templates via the admin panel.

(1 sql database, FTP, web control panel). | 20MB of space, depending on their traffic & graphics, maybe 2gb of banwidth, 1 FTP account, 1 MySQL database, PHPMyAdmin (you should see how many people forget their admin passwords), control panel, I guess.
I think that's all.....
To be honest, your best bet would be to offer WordPress, it's the official branch of b2, and b2 isn't being developed anymore. _________________ No more support from me. Goodbye!
Go upgrade to WordPress, you'll find better support there. |

Can I just say, epolady nailed it? WordPress would be the suggested direction for you to go though instead of b2. Both are easy to configure and work with from a light technical understanding.
Something that would be nice to offer the clients would be multiple templates to start with instead of them all being the same. Hire someone that knows what they are doing in CSS to create 10 or so templates for them to start with and then be sure to GPL them so as to payback the WordPress community for their software and I think you'd have a good layer for success. _________________ Buzzing Bye | CougarNet News |
