I am thinking of redesigning my web site (www.jakeslife.net) and using b2 or b2evolution as my blogging program. I have a few questions though...
1.) I have installed a copy of b2 through my cPanel and have played around with it for a bit. I'm trying to shy away from using iFrames in my site, even though I find them incredibly useful and downright handy in saving bandwidth to high traffic sites. I would like to integrate my blog page into either an .html or .php page inside a table. Using the "<?php include("blog/b2.php") ?>" tag, I got it to import just fine so far, except for the CSS. I'm sure there is something else I could do, such as edit a template to include the CSS internally into the template instead of just linking to it, I'm just not sure what.
2.) I've noticed that even though this project is "dead" (or so I've been told) the community is still obviously very alive and active. What are the major differences in b2 and b2evolution aside form the fact that b2evolution is still active?
I've searched the forums for answers (I'm on page 20 of the How To sections) and have yet to find a specific answer. Most of the posts I've seen have either been just thrown out there ("HELP ME PLEASE!!!") or very vague and no one has responded to them. Some have been informative, but not the exact answer I'm looking for. As someone who is very much used to GM (and using HTML and Perl for my sites in general), stepping outside that comfort zone is kinda odd. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! |

1) Yes, you can have your .css internal, as blogger.com does i.e. If you need to know how to do that, check out the .css section of http://www.w3schools.com
2) I'd go for WordPress (www.wordpress.org). I'm probably going to upgrade from b2 as soon as I've the chance. This is a tool perfect for serious bloggers who wants stability, user-friendliness and w3c validation (all-browsers compatible). But, b2 works fine as well:) _________________ Sigg3 dot net - because you're worth it! |
