I edited the stuff I needed in the config file and uploaded it.

When I went to the install php file, I got an error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '*' in /home/silence/public_html/b2config.php on line 305

But there is no line 305 - it only goes up to line 303.

I looked at "*" which were close to line 305, but they did nothing.

What is wrong?

There should be around 352 lines. Perhaps some lines are missing causing the problem. Line 304 says:

// ** Configuration for b2mail.php ** (skip this if you don't intend to blog via email)

You did edit the file in a text editor rather than an html editor which can do funny things?

Try using a fresh version of b2config.php.
