17.04.02

The cool folks at SourceForge.net have approved the b2/CaféLog project to be hosted on their servers !

What this mean is that soon you will see:
  • a bug tracking system
  • anonymous CVS access

And probably more !

I don't actually have B2 on my site, but I should and I'm thoroughly ashamed! : (  This is good stuff you guys (espesh honey-valued Michel), & once I've handled php, I'll give it a go! : )  I remember it back in its old days when it didn't really have colour or smileys.. times have changed!
xx

(Sorry if I'm not supposed to blog here & I'm dissipating the technical thing you got goin on so far..!)

Updated 0.6pre2
Fixed profile (again), and comments in Unicode (now it won't bug if someone comments in Japanese, Korean, or any language).

09.04.02

There's a new release of b2 !
Grab it fast, it includes several fixes and improvements, most noticeably the login system doesn't use sessions anymore, this should fix issues with some people's IE6 browsers.

04.04.02

Post-via-email is almost done.
The current implementation works like this:
  • Setup :
Specify a POP3 email address for the script to check, and a prefix for the subject of the emails (so that the script doesn't check every email in the mailbox). Default prefix is "blog:"
Set up a cronjob to run the script every 5 minutes or so.
  • Usage :
Send an email to the above specified address.
The subject must be the prefix plus the title of the post, e.g. "blog:the title of my post".
In the message body, type "login:password" on the first line then go to the next line and start typing your post. For example if your login is "me" and your password is "123", and you want to say "I just ate an apple, woohoo!", type this:
    me:123
I just ate an apple, woohoo!

There will soon be an open beta test of this feature, for the 0.6 testdrive blog (hint: go and register there for testing). I'll announce it when it's ready.

03.04.02

There have been several changes in 0.6, the most important one being the login process which uses cookies only now, instead of sessions+cookies. This should get rid of all the Profile bugs and 'I can't login with IE' errors.

You can test b2 v0.6 on the test blog.
Once you register there you can post right away, so have fun !

From Marcelo Cabral:

I've just released the 2.0 version of w.bloggar, the most complete windows-based interface to any blog engine that supports Blogger API, including Blogger.com, MovableType, b2 and Nucleus among others.

The new features include, support to multiple accounts, post preview, colorized HTML colors, post same text to many blogs with one click, ping to Weblogs.Com, Find/Replace and much more.

Currently available in English and Portuguese (Brazilian), but soon all languages available on old 1.20 version will be ready to this new release.

The address to download it and read the news is: http://wbloggar.cjb.net

This new version of w.Bloggar is fantastic !
(and works very well with b2 : )

What is b2 ?
A classy news/weblog tool (aka logware).

How does it work ?
You type something and hit "blog this" and in the next second it's on your page(s). You can write extended entries, or even entries that span multiple pages. You can also use BloggerAPI clients to post to your b2 weblog.
What's original in b2 ? Pages are generated dynamically from the MySQL database, so no clumsy 'rebuilding' is involved. It also means faster search/display capabilities, and the ability to serve your news in different 'templates' without any hassle.

Requirements ?
A server that can run PHP4, and a MySQL database (you can install b2 in an already existing database, and you can put several b2's in one database).

Where can I download it ?
b2 0.6 is the latest public release.
You can also visit the CVS server for the latest code, at your own risks.
See the ReadMe file for requirements and installation instructions.
