Fixed the cookie login system in 0.5.2 (which will be named 0.6 now) and implemented a new system to convert html entities to their unicode counterparts in order to be more XML-friendly. For example, é (é) gets converted to é when the page is displayed, even if you hard-coded it as a HTML entity.

There will be. I didn't include that in the pre-release of 0.6, but I might include that for the release.
Mind you, there's no user-interface for that feature, so you'd have to find your way through the code to add smileys and other stuff.

I just discovered b2. It is great. I plan to convert my site this week! I have a question/concern about converting html entities. The current implementation does not get “ and ” correctly. I imagine other codes might not work either.

Eric, I lowered the ASCII conversion limit from #160 to #130, and now MSWindows-specific characters (those between #130 and #159) will display alright in b2 : )

Then you'll be happy. I finished fixing stuff, and now these characters display right. Even if you paste them from MSWord, they display as “ etc instead of “ (oddly enough, I found the solution to this in an old Lynx mailing list archived post).

What is b2 ?
A classy news/weblog tool (aka logware).

How does it work ?
You type something and hit "blog this" and in the next second it's on your page(s). You can write extended entries, or even entries that span multiple pages. You can also use BloggerAPI clients to post to your b2 weblog.
What's original in b2 ? Pages are generated dynamically from the MySQL database, so no clumsy 'rebuilding' is involved. It also means faster search/display capabilities, and the ability to serve your news in different 'templates' without any hassle.

Requirements ?
A server that can run PHP4, and a MySQL database (you can install b2 in an already existing database, and you can put several b2's in one database).

Where can I download it ?
b2 0.6 is the latest public release.
You can also visit the CVS server for the latest code, at your own risks.
